Myrna Anne Christiansen Broschinsky, 79, passed away suddenly on the morning of January 12, 2017 in her home in Murray, UT. She was a loyal wife, as well as a darling Mother, grandmother, great grandmother, best friend, confidante, and teacher. She has already been, and will continue to be, greatly missed.

Myrna was born on March 24, 1937 in Mayfield, Utah to Ethel Swallow and Ray Christiansen. She was the older sister to two darling boys yet to come, Ray and Lee, whom she loved dearly.Myrna attended schools in Salt Lake and Bountiful, graduating from Davis High School. She spent summers working at Lagoon Amusement Park and it was there that she met her future husband George Broschinsky.

Myrna graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in Elementary Education before leaving to serve a mission for the L.D.S. Church. This had been a long time ambition and she turned down several marriage proposals to make it happen. Myrna was privileged to serve in the Canadian Mission under the direction of President Thomas S. Monson. Myrna and George married soon after their missions on August 11, 1961 and began to raise their family that would eventually grow to six children. They lived first in Price and then Murray, Utah. They then had the wonderful opportunity to move to Paris, France for three years, followed by three years in southern France where George and Myrna served as President and “Mission Mother” of the newly created France, Toulouse mission from July 1975-1978.
Once again home in Murray, Myrna made the most of her teaching degree and was a beloved teacher for hundreds of second, fifth and sixth graders, not to mention all the fortunate children that she tutored. She continually honed her teaching skills and obtained a Masters Degree in Education from U.S.U.

She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and she served in numerous positions of all the Church auxiliaries on both Stake and Ward levels. Myrna also honored her heritage as a proud member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.

Preceded in death by her brother, Lee Stewart Christiansen and her parents. Survived by her brother, Ray (Bobbie) Christiansen. Also survived by her husband George, children, Michael (Korral), Wendy (Dwight) DeMann, David (Jennifer), Steven (Jennifer), Mark (Hannah), Karen (Manden) McBride; 16 grandchildren; and 1 great grandson.

Funeral services will be held Monday, January 23, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. at the Murray Utah Little Cottonwood Stake center, 6180 S. Glenoaks where friends may call from Noon to 1 p.m. prior to services. There will also be a viewing on Sunday, January 22, 2017 from 5 – 7 p.m. at the Jenkins- Soffe Mortuary, 4760 S. State Street.
